The Department of Philosophy offers a two-year graduate study program. Entry is competitive and limited to 20 candidates for each two-year program. The program leads to a Master of Arts degree in:
a. Moral and Political Philosophy
b. Metaphysics and Epistemology
Eligible applicants include all holders of a first degree (eg a B.A.) from a Greek Higher Education Institution or equivalent foreign institution, and graduates of Greek Higher Technical Education Institutions.
For all foreign candidates, verification of oral adequacy in Greek is required (State Certificate). Candidates from abroad are required to submit a State Certificate of speaking ability in Greek.
Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the following languages: English, French, or German. As proof of fluency, they may either submit a language certificate in one of these languages or sit the Department’s language examination.
Selection for admission to the program is supervised by a select M.A. admissions committee composed of full-time faculty. The admission procedure is based on a points system. It takes into account (a) grades obtained in the written entrance examinations set by the admissions committee, (b) grades obtained in the candidate’s first degree, (c) undergraduate thesis grades no lower than 7/10, and if applicable, other M.A. or Ph.D. degrees or academic publications.
